So you are getting traffic to your site but sales just are not happening. Well not to worry. Here are a few basic steps you can do to help increase your sales potential and capture a bit of information from your visitors.
1. Make sure that your handmade crafts have accurate and easy to understand descriptions. Yes a picture is worth a thousand of words but descriptions are still a must. Do not hesitate to use descriptive words just be careful not to exaggerate.
2. Include a brief artist story that tells a bit about who you are and maybe describes the process you use to create your one of a kind crafts. This will make you standout from the crowd and add to your credibility as an artist. Also stress the benefits of owning your crafts. People are more willing to make a purchase when they know what is in it for them.
3. Testimonials from past customers. Having a few kind words posted on your site from previous customers shows that you are an established artist and that you provide excellent customer service.
4. Include a picture of yourself. The best picture is one that shows you in your shop creating your handmade crafts. This helps potential buyers connect to you and form a likable opinion of you. Remember people buy from people they like.
5. Include a return policy or terms of purchase statement. This is yet another way that adds to the credibility to your site and it lets potential customers know what they can expect.
6. Contact information such as a shop phone number or email address( i.e. not one ending in yahoo or gmail) can go along way. Of course the optimum form of contact is the telephone so if you have a phone number that you are willing to provide that would be great. But at the very least an email address is a must.
7. Newsletter sign-up. You don't have to call it a newsletter sign-up. You can be creative and call it something like Sign-up for new craft announcements or a frequent buyers club. Maybe offer your visitors a 5% or 10% discount off their first purchase for signing up. Make some attempt to collect information so that you can follow up with your visitors later, especially if they don't make a purchase the first time they visit your site. Always think that every visitor to your site is a potential buyer.
8. A listing of upcoming craft shows that you will be participating in. This way potential buyers who are a little concerned about making their first purchase from you online can perhaps attend a craft show to make a purchase. If you sell your crafts in a physical location make sure to include that information as well.
These are just a few basic steps that I recommend every handmade artist take to help increase their potential sales.
If you are still in need of more traffic don't forget there are several ways HandmadeCraftShow.com can help send targeted traffic your way.
